Dr. Agota Szabo
Boardroom effectiveness expert
Governance & Boardroom dynamics
Agota brings a focused expertise in governance and boardroom dynamics, with a particular emphasis on how leadership teams make decisions in complex and fast-changing environments. Her work centres on the intersection of effectiveness and decision-making at the top of organisations.
As a facilitator and governance expert, she navigates the realities of boardrooms and executive teams, where ambitions to accelerate often meet the challenges of uncertainty, competing priorities, and unclear roles. She creates space for honest dialogue, helping leaders unpack the underlying dynamics that shape how decisions are made and how organisations move forward.
Bridging Academic Insight and Executive Practice
With over 15 years of academic experience and an active role in executive education, Agota bridges rigorous research with real-world application. Her work translates complex governance and leadership concepts into structured, practical insights that resonate with senior decision-makers.
As a Professor of Governance, she brings analytical depth combined with a clear and accessible way of thinking, enabling board members to reflect on their own context while gaining new perspectives grounded in both theory and practice.
Creating Space for Real Conversations at the Top
A defining element of Agota’s work is her ability to create an environment in which leaders feel comfortable addressing difficult and often unspoken issues. In boardrooms and executive settings, where stakes are high and dynamics complex, important conversations are often avoided or remain at a surface-level. By making space for honest reflection and constructive challenge, Agota supports executives in addressing sensitive topics more effectively, strengthening alignment, and improving the quality of decisions made at the top of the organisation.

Her workshops translate abstract governance principles into practical behaviours that boards can immediately apply. She has a strong ability to surface and address the habits that undermine board effectiveness, guiding participants toward more constructive collaboration.
