What is the difference between facilitation and moderation?

Category: facilitation

Facilitation guides a group through a process to reach a concrete outcome — a decision, a strategy, a set of ideas, or alignment. Moderation guides a public event, like a conference or panel, for an audience. In short: facilitation is group-facing and outcome-driven; moderation is stage-facing and audience-driven. We do both, and For moderation, we have a facilitatory approach. We want the audience to participate in the event leading to outcomes.
